In 1950 a group of actors and professionals, who habitually watched cricket from The Tavern at Lord’s Cricket Ground, conceived an idea of a charity for the disabled and disadvantaged based on the love of cricket and sport more generally.
Lord’s Taverners Australia was formed in 1982 and now enjoys strong, gender balanced membership in all States and Territories. It is an autonomous organisation with 11 active State Branches.
The Tavs Tas Branch was formed in 1985. We operate within the historical and contemporary ideals of the organisation, but also specific to our State’s challenges. We assist young people disadvantaged due to, physical or intellectual disability, financial constraints or geographical isolation, to take part in sport through the provision of funds, sporting equipment, transportation and facilitated opportunities.
The Tavs Tas Board is a united, passionate group of professional volunteers with specialized and experienced skill-sets.
All Members can be contacted directly via our web site. We are motivated by enabling life’s sporting dreams come true and would love to hear from you if you know a situation of disadvantage where support is limited or would like to help more generally.
Businesses, organisations and individuals are all welcome to join with us and our passionate network of supporters to make sporting chances a reality.
